Holme Valley Camping & Caravan Park, Thongsbridge
From £17.00
Join the Hiking Society for their first ever camping trip! An amazing way to finish off the academic year.
Firstly, will hike up the highest point in West Yorkshire, Black Hill in the Peak District. We will start in the village of Holme, then descend into the sprawling Holme Woods which contains 4 picturesque reservoirs. Then there is a steep climb to reach Rudley Clough. Cross the windswept moorlands to reach Holme Moss and its transmitting station and eventually, the summit of Black Hill. Descend down to the dramatic Blackpool bridge and then to Digley reservoir, finally back to Holme village.
Once we reach Holme, we will take the bus down to the famous town of Holmfirth, where we will get food and drinks for the night! Then we will walk to Holme Valley Campsite, where we will pitch our tents and sleep the night. There will be toilets and showers available, bring toiletries and a spare pair of clothes.
The day after, we will walk back to Huddersfield town via Castle Hill, an easy walk to wrap up an amazing trip! Walk over railway lines, through woods and farmfields, as we ascend up to Castle Hill, a famous hill that overlooks Huddersfield town (please note that there isn't a castle, just a tower). We will then decend down to Huddersfield, and catch the bus back to Bradford.
