Knaresborough,
From £8.00
England, home of many castles and some beautiful scenery. Join us on our next Take a Hike walk where we will visit two castles and the historic town of Knaresborough, one of the most beautiful places in the UK.
Take a Hike is a hiking group for students and young adults with and without disabilities. There will be a few walks throughout the year, with a summer trip to the Isle of Man (funding permitting), but if you want to come on the trip, you have to come on the training hikes and get to know the team.
Welcome to UBU Take a Hike!
This initiative brings together University of Bradford students and local young disabled people for inclusive day walks in nature. Our aim is to make outdoor experiences fun, safe, and accessible for everyone, while providing valuable volunteering and learning opportunities for students.
By booking a ticket or signing up for a Take a Hike event, you agree to follow these Terms and Conditions.

3. Student Support Roles
UBU Take a Hike is a peer-support volunteering activity. As a participant, you are agreeing to take part in an inclusive group walk where some participants have disabilities or additional support needs.
You may be asked to:
• Walk alongside and guide visually impaired (VI) participants, following guidance from staff.
• Offer encouragement or simple assistance to participants with learning disabilities or mobility challenges.
• Help maintain a positive, patient, and inclusive atmosphere throughout the trip.
All volunteers are expected to act respectfully, follow UBU staff instructions, and prioritise the comfort and safety of the young people we support.
UBU staff and professional support workers will always be present and responsible for risk management — students are not expected to provide medical care or specialist support.

• Purpose: This allows us to make reasonable adjustments and ensure appropriate group support.
• Confidentiality: All information will be kept confidential and shared only with trip leaders or staff where necessary for safety.
• Equipment and Preparedness: Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear for the weather and terrain. Bring any required medication and ensure it is accessible during the walk.
• Insurance: While UBU takes all reasonable precautions, participants are encouraged to have personal insurance for belongings or medical needs.
