Whernside - Yorkshire Dales…

Our first hard hike of the semester: Whernside!

Join us for a classic Yorkshire Dales adventure as we take on Whernside, the highest of the Yorkshire Three Peaks! See the engineering marvel of the Ribblehead Viaduct, with dramatic views across the Dales. Ascend to a rewarding summit with incredible scenery (weather permitting). Chill in a famous pub whilst we wait to return home. A brilliant winter hike and a great challenge to kick off February.

⚠️ Important Details:

Arrive at Bradford Cheapside (L Stop) at 8:30.
We will take the bus to Shipley and catch the train to Ribblehead, arriving at approximately 10:30.

There is no opportunity to buy food after we leave Bradford.
Bring plenty of water and enough food for the full day. WE DO NOT PROVIDE FOOD.

There will be toilets on the train, but toilets may not be available after we arrive at Ribblehead.

Please bring suitable clothing: warm layers, waterproofs, and sturdy hiking boots. February conditions can include wind, cold, mud, and possibly ice or snow. Come prepared. ?
If you need Hiking boots, we have some spare. Please get in touch.

Expect to return to Bradford around 6pm to 8pm ? (Trains to Bradford are every 2 hours!).
We will wait in a famous Pub for the next train! ?

Difficulty: HARD
Distance: 13.5 km (8.4 miles)
Elevation Climb: 499 m (1638 ft)

Expect a very long and steep climb to the summit and potential winter conditions underfoot. We will take frequent breaks.
