Who we are...
The Islamic Society, perhaps more appropriately named the ISOC family, has the roots of its tree anchored deep into history and is considered amongst the oldest societies on campus. With well over 50 years of heritage, its branches are known to be constantly reaching high in the sky, thus earning a reputation for being one of the university’s most vibrant and active societies. The ISOC is committed to catering for the intellectual, social, and spiritual needs of more than 5000 Muslim students on Bradford’s campus, in addition to acting as their voice at university and union levels, with the aim of building a strong rapport with both parties.
Our Mission...
The society exists to uphold Islamic teachings in accordance with Al-Qur’an and the Sunnah of the last and final Prophet, Muhammad (S.A.W). It commits itself to all members of the university and strives to:
1. Be the source of Islamic Knowledge
2. Be the voice of Muslim students on university and union level
3. Provide services that facilitate the practice of the Muslim faith
4. Raise awareness of the Islamic belief amongst people of all creed and faith
5. Act as a platform for debate amongst all students
The ultimate reason to join the ISOC lies with this Hadith of the Prophet (S.A.W): “The best of humans are those who render the most benefit to others”. Alongside this compelling motivation there are many other benefits which can be reaped by joining the ISOC. The ISOC would help you develop your confidence, character and skills which would aid you in balancing time and commitments. It would also allow you to gain a wealth of experience for life beyond education, serving you within any career path you may enter into. The ISOC also stands as a natural hub to meet new people within an alternate social and educational atmosphere.
